Your login (passkey)
Some apps here use one shared sign-in with a passkey: your phone's face, fingerprint or screen lock instead of a password. Nothing to remember, and nothing that can be phished.
- Daniel texts you a one-time link. Open it on your phone.
- When asked, save a passkey. Your phone keeps it in its password manager (Google Password Manager, iCloud Keychain, or one like Bitwarden).
- From then on, choose "Sign in" and confirm with your face or fingerprint.
On a computer, choose the option to use a passkey from your phone, then scan the QR code with your phone.
New phone? Passkeys usually move over with your Google or Apple account. If not, ask Daniel for a new link. The one-time link only works once, so don't forward it.
Jellyfin: watching
Jellyfin has its own username and password, which Daniel sends you. In a browser, your passkey works too (see "Your login" above).
- Install the Jellyfin app, or use a browser.
- Android phone or tablet: Jellyfin (Play Store)
- iPhone or iPad: Jellyfin Mobile or Swiftfin (App Store)
- Android TV, Google TV, Fire TV: Jellyfin from the TV's app store
- Apple TV: Swiftfin
- Roku: the Jellyfin channel
- Computer: just open jellyfin.danielhuang.app
- When the app asks for a server, enter
https://jellyfin.danielhuang.app - Sign in with your Jellyfin username and password.
- In a browser, you can skip the password: choose Sign in with Pocket ID, or open this sign-in link, and use your passkey.
The passkey only works in a browser. The phone and TV apps use your password, or Quick Connect (below) from a browser where you're signed in.
You can change your password in Jellyfin under Settings → Profile. Forgot it? Ask Daniel to reset it.
Jellyfin on a TV, without typing a password
Typing a password with a remote is painful. Quick Connect skips it:
- On the TV, open the Jellyfin app and choose Quick Connect. It shows a short code.
- On your phone, open jellyfin.danielhuang.app and sign in, with your password or your passkey.
- Go to your profile → Quick Connect, type the code and confirm.
The TV signs in and stays signed in.
Requests: asking for something new
- Open requests.danielhuang.app and sign in with your Jellyfin username and password.
- Search for a movie or show and choose Request. For shows, pick the seasons you want.
- When it's ready, it appears in Jellyfin on its own. That can take minutes or a day or two, depending on how easy it is to find.
If something stays "Processing" for days, let Daniel know.
Recipes, meal plans and shopping lists
The family recipe box, at recipes.danielhuang.app.
- Set up your passkey first (see "Your login" above).
- Open recipes.danielhuang.app and choose Login with Pocket ID.
- Add a recipe from a website: the + button, then Import, and paste the link. It pulls in the ingredients and steps, without the life story.
- Meal plan: pick recipes for the week, then turn the plan into a shopping list you can tick off in the shop.
On a phone, add the site to your home screen so it opens like an app.
Trips: planning together
Shared trip plans at trips.danielhuang.app: the day-by-day plan on a map, the budget and who owes whom, and packing lists. Changes show up for everyone straight away.
- Set up your passkey first (see "Your login" above), then choose Pocket ID on the TREK sign-in page.
- Daniel adds you to the trip. It then appears on your trips list.
- Only joining for one trip? Daniel can send an invite link instead, which makes a TREK-only login with a password.
Forward booking confirmation emails or PDFs into the trip and it can pull out flights and hotels.
Flights: your travel history
A log of every flight you've taken at flights.danielhuang.app: each one on a world map, with stats like distance flown, airlines, airports and aircraft.
- Set up your passkey first (see "Your login" above). Daniel adds you to the flights group.
- On flights.danielhuang.app, use the Pocket ID sign-in button, not the username and password boxes.
- Add flights one at a time, or import your history from apps like Flighty, App in the Air or myFlightradar24.
Goes well with Trips: plan the trip there, and keep the record here.
Is something down?
Check status.danielhuang.app. It's updated every minute and shows what's up, what's down, and how things have looked over the last day.
Everything up but it still doesn't work? Try closing and reopening the app, then tell Daniel what you see (a screenshot helps).
Minecraft
Server address: mc.danielhuang.app (Java Edition).
Servers start on demand from the Discord server, so if it doesn't answer, it may just be off. Ask Daniel to add you if it says you're not on the list.
Code: helping with the bots and games
Only if you want to contribute. The code lives at git.danielhuang.app.
- Set up your passkey first (see "Your login" above). Daniel adds you to the right group.
- On git.danielhuang.app, choose Sign in with pocketid and pick a username.
- Make changes on a branch and open a pull request. Daniel reviews and merges it.
- To push from your computer, create an access token under Settings → Applications and use it as the password over HTTPS.
